Unintentional Foreshadowing

So I have been writing on my creative writing story for the coming Tues and have realized, consciously and for the first time, the way in which I tend to foreshadow in my short and novel length stories. I tend to foreshadow, unintentionally. What I mean by that is that I subconsciously choose words which relate directly or indirectly to the future of the character or plot in question and I do this through word choice.
Here is an example, notice the word "collar"

He began to follow their footsteps; the feeling of a cold hand on his shoulder returned and seemed to pat his back in encouragement. Ferrin turned his head suddenly to look behind him. No one was there. He put his hand on his chest and rubbed his collar bone.

This particular character eventually because enslaved to his anger, jealousy, and his hate. He also turns into a wolf. at one point in the story which is similar to a dog, and hence collaring a dog, or a wolf....
Purely unintentionally...

Does this kind of thing happen to anyone else when they write?

Writing Excuses

Here is site for all those who like to write creatively. It is very informative and could help a person get better at writing. Just thought I would share.
http://www.writingexcuses.com/

Earlier today I was thinking about my story and kind of wished that there was a way to include sound bites into a book... It would be awesome to have multimedia novels that include pictures, audio a movie clip and such... it would be an expensive book, but an awesome one...

Logical Discourse: what makes a person an expert?

Warning! The Following is a Logical Discourse Discussing the Idea of Degrees and Experts. If you wish to not read this stop now. I said stop now. Okay, I mean it this time, don't read this if you don't want to....

Are you still reading this?

In Philosophy there is an interesting fallacy called Dubious Authority. The fallacy is, that when debating a person sometimes reverts to mentioning a source with proposes to have the answer to the question that is being asked, or the issue that is being attacked. For instance, A person with no knowledge about video games might reference a source that comes from, say a mother of two, who writes on a blog about how video games are horrible, mind zombifying (yes, I just created a word) tools of Satan, all in the effort to argue that video games are evil. Rationally Person B, who believes that video games are just entertainment, finds the source that person A mentions to be dubious or biased in their convictions.

According to the dubious authority fallacy, in order to correct such a fallacy, a person must be qualified to speak on the subject. Yet does a degree make you an expert?
While it indeed lends credence to the "expert's" views and decisions that the "expert" makes while performing his duties. Having a degree, say in science, does not mean that  what the so called expert says is always the truth. Likewise what the expert says cannot always be taken as true due to his bias for merely being a human being. Such a person, a scientist, and every other person on earth is fallible. Humans are prone to mistakes in logic, mathematics, science and every other discipline on the face of planet earth form the beginning to the end.
Whether you believe in God or not, human beings are fallible.
So my question remains. What makes a person an expert if degrees merely indicate education, but not truth?

Here is Story that I thought I Should Share

For those who have not read the short story "My Neighbor Rosicky," I encourage you to take a look into it if you have time. I for one am not ashamed to admit that this is perhaps the 2nd or 3rd story in my life that actually made me cry.

Here is a Hyperlink: http://shortstoryclassics.50megs.com/catherneighbour.html

According to Wikipedia, it came out in 1932, so the either the copywrite has expired or someone posted it on this cite with permission or illegally. Either way, I recommend that you find someway to read it, as it is a wonderful story.

Less About Writing, More About Failing

Today I did my geography homework., I actually did it. And then I took the online quiz, and got about 12 out 20 correct...

The first quiz in the class, I did not do my homework. And I took the quiz and got a 11 out of 20 correct.

It seems I fail at geography Quizzes...

In other news, every other assignment in the geography class is a B or higher, No C's...

I don't get it...

Post Unrelated to Schooling...

Yesterday I beat the hardest level of any video game I have ever played. I died hundreds of times. Once past it, I was so happy.  Now I have to get back to my Journal for Geography...

Another Weds Filled With Lots of Work

Today I completed my Peer Reviews for English 201, Rather than purely following the Template provided I went ahead and wrote the Peer review in paragraph form while answering the some questions... I also got an 82% on my Geography 100 exam. YAY! I was scared I would get a worse grade.

My Philosophy: When You're at A loss for Words, Write poetry...

Homework is getting stressful
I feel I am not far
From going crazy with this
19 credits and few hours

I have to write an essay
and then a second too
and after that a movie to watch
for Science course number two

College is not difficult,
but time is hard to gain,
and already the date comes
When the week's stress starts anew...

4 Truths and A Lie English 201

The Assignment Tomorrow will be to guess which of these statements are true... I wonder how the class will do??? I guess I will see.

4 Truths and a Lie
I went with my 8th grade class to Washington DC, Philadelphia, and New York for a field trip. While in Washington DC we visited the Smithsonian of Natural History. I saw the Hope Diamond and many other pretty gems and stones.
While in New York my class we traveled to the Statue of Liberty and Stopped on Ellis Island. We took pictures at the Bronze bull that you sometimes can see in movies and went to see Mama Mia on Broadway.
After coming home from the trip my only regrets were that I ran out of film on the 4 cameras that I had with me, Chinatown New York sucked, and that I did not purchase a stone obelisk at the Natural History Smithsonian.
I spent most of my money on Caesar salads, bought two hats, one for me and one for my dad, a shirt for my mom, two stone dice for my grandparents, and a couple of coin things for my sisters. I also bought postcards and  I do not love New York, although the top of the Rockefeller Center, looking down, was amazing.

First Blog Post Ever

Hello everyone. My name is Jacob and this will be my first blog post in my entire life. The current blog that you are occupying was constructed for one of my classes for college, hence the title. I do not know exactly what I will be writing here, nor how long this blog will be around. So I will say good night, as I leave this post, and go and mess around a little more on the blogger.com main page.
